  • I took them in & went on board 〈prd on 1 me &〉 we proceeded on about 1 mile & anchored out off a willow Island placed a guard on Shore to protect the Cooks & a guard in the boat, fastened the Perogues to the boat, I call this Island bad humered Island (Marion Island) as we were in a bad humer. All the emendations in this entry appear to be in Biddle's hand, but many could be by Clark (Clark, William) .

  • The first letter of the word appears to be "L," but Clark's (Clark, William) entries for May 14 clearly locate the island on the starboard side.

  • Again the number "19" at the top of the next page. An error; elsewhere in both entries Clark (Clark, William) indicates a camp on the starboard side, which may account for striking the passage.
