  • Evidently he still had more empty space than he needed and for some reason he carried a portion of his entry of June 20 to this spot. That material was actually copied from Lewis's (Lewis, Meriwether) entries of July 4 and 11, but he also included some reflections on his personal experience with the mysterious noise of which Lewis (Lewis, Meriwether) wrote in the copied passages (see June 20 below).

  • To Fort River (Lewis and Clark (Fort, Netul) River) is imedeately cross S 10° E To the opening of the mouth of River S. 50 E The bay turns to the N of East & recves 2 other small Brooks These islands (called "Seal Islands (Marsh (Seal) Island) " in second entry and on Atlas map 82) in Clatsop County (Clatsop County, Oreg.) , Oregon (Oregon) , are now within the Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge (Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge) .
  • Probably the river on which they built Fort Clatsop (Fort Clatsop (Oreg.)) , "Netul River (Lewis and Clark (Fort, Netul) River) " in later entries, today's Lewis and Clark River (Lewis and Clark (Fort, Netul) River) , Clatsop County (Clatsop County, Oreg.) .
